When I saw this Eliza J Scarf Print Woven Maxi Dress online, I had to have it! I love scarf dresses, I think they are really pretty for the summer, but this one to me was an upgraded scarf dress to wear to a special occasion. When it came in the mail I tried it on and the fit was PERFECT. I really like the Eliza J brand, the clothing is good quality and they fit me really well.
I immediately knew I was going to wear this to host the New Orleans Natural Hair Expo during the Essence Festival, which meant I was going to wear flats with it. so even though the fit was perfect, I still had to get it altered only because it was a little long on me. I am 5’6, had I worn high heels about 5 inches I probably could have made it as is, but I never wear heels that high. Also the Essence Festival involves lots of walking, lots of activity, lots of action and I don’t even pack heels for that weekend cause I wouldn’t make it….lol
The type of flats I wore were with the dress were Fit Flops. My mom randomly bought me a pair of Fit Flops one day, I think she said I had ran my flip flops out and she was tired of seeing them so she took matters into her own hands…lol. Prior to her getting them for me I had never heard of the brand, but I am so glad she introduced me! These are the most comfortable sandals I have ever owned! The sole is thick and I think there is added arch support, I could last all day walking around New Orleans in them with no problem.
This look was all about looking great while being comfortable and cool. The dress fit just right and was flowy, and the Fit Flops were like walking on clouds. The event was a huge success and is one I look forward to hosting every year! It’s too soon to know what I will be wearing to host in 2016, but I will definitely have on a pair of Fit Flops!
